Why Add a WhatsApp Link to Your Profile?
In today's market, speed is everything. Adding a direct WhatsApp link to your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) removes friction, allowing potential customers to contact you with a single tap. It's one of the fastest ways to:
- Generate high-quality leads directly from Google Search and Maps.
- Provide instant, personal customer support.
- Stand out from competitors who don't offer direct chat.
-
1
Generate Your WhatsApp `wa.me` Link
First, you need a special "click-to-chat" link. This allows users to start a chat without saving your number. The format is $https://wa.me/\textless number\textgreater$.
- Replace `number` with your full phone number in international format.
- Do NOT include zeros, brackets, dashes, or the `+` symbol.
- Correct Example (for an Indian number +91 12345 67890): `https://wa.me/911234567890`

Edit Profile and Add Your Link
In your profile manager, click on the **"Edit profile"** button. Then, navigate to the **"Contact"** tab.

You will see a field for **"Website"**. Click the pencil icon to edit it. While Google doesn't have a dedicated "WhatsApp" field, this is the best place to put your link. Paste your `https://wa.me/...` link here and click **Save**.

Pro Tip: Google allows multiple website links. You can have your main website first, and then add your WhatsApp link as a secondary link. It will appear as a clickable link on your public profile.

Verify Your Link is Live
Changes can take a few minutes to appear. Search for your business name on Google or Google Maps. View your public profile and find the website link. Click it to test and ensure it opens a WhatsApp chat correctly.
